Get Outside, Or Else

Get Outside, Or Else

Before having a baby, my husband Dan and I aimed to (continue to) be an outdoorsy, adventurous family. Now being on the other side, it’s harder than I could have imagined. Some days it’s a miracle I even leave the house.
Getting outdoors, especially in Northern BC is no easy task with an infant—I’m learning it takes a lot of patience and practice. Adventuring with a partner is always easier—more hands, more patience, more bodies for hauling baby and gear. But Dan my adventure partner is only available for adventures in the evening, on weekends and holidays. So where does that leave Fern and I? Well, while my Mom has been here I’ve had the opportunity to push out of my comfort zone as the lead, while still having back up support. It’s not independence, but it is progress.
As I build my strength and courage back up postpartum, I’m trying to find a balance between patience and pushing. As they say, if you don’t use it - you lose it.
Soooo I’m taking any and all suggestions/tips and tricks on getting outside with youngsters. Help a mama out.
