WORTH ≠ How Much We “Produce”

I have been in therapy for just over a month now and have already been exposed to so many unhealthy internal lies and assumptions, personal pressures and burdens.

Many know, most ignore but I want to be another gentle voice to let you know that therapy is a thing, working with a Christian counselor even, if you struggle with ANYTHING (who doesn’t?), therapy is an option for you. It doesn’t have to be big, it doesn’t have to be scary - we make it scary.

I booked my first appointment as a mental health checkup because Covid19 and the weight of the world was starting to overwhelm me.

Let me tell you friend, it’s been a journey from there already and I have only had FOUR sessions.

Reading random Bible verses and inspirational quotes from the internet can only get you so far.

Just as Jesus loves you individually, specifically, the gospel applies to us individually, specifically.

Working 1-1 with a Christian counselor helps you apply the Bible to YOU individually, specifically. It gives you permission to work on yourself without any guilt of feeling self-centered or high maintenance or whatever else bullpoo lies we try to convince ourselves with so we don’t stretch and grow and become more Christ-like.

So if you have been sitting on the therapy fence, for years maybe (like I was), I’ll tell you like it is—do it. I dare you. I imagine God does a little happy dance everytime one of us decides to stop, take our sin and struggles seriously and rid ourselves of them in order to walk more freely in the light, for Him. --- Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
