Building A Gospel-Centered Business: A Thousand Elsewhere

Building A Gospel-Centered Business: A Thousand Elsewhere

Jordan Feenstra—fellow mama, creative soul, lover of Jesus, and creator behind A Thousand Elsewhere. Jordan is one of those rare women whose faith shows up in every piece of her work—in every design, post, and hand-lettered scripture. She runs her small business from her home in northern British Columbia, where she’s raising her little one, adventuring in the great outdoors, and creating with an eternal mindset.

Jordan’s business isn’t just about branding or products —it’s about refocusing our eyes upward. In a world full of distraction, she gently reminds us that our worth isn’t in the hustle, the aesthetics, or the accolades; it’s in Christ alone.

Why the name A Thousand Elsewhere?

It all comes back to Psalm 84:10:

“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”

This verse isn’t just a beautiful sentiment—it’s Jordan’s mission statement. It’s a daily reminder that while there is beauty and joy here on Earth, it’s all just a foretaste of something far greater. Every product she offers and every post she shares is designed to nudge us away from worldly striving and toward an eternal perspective. As Hebrews 12:1-2 encourages us, we are to run the race with endurance, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.

How A Thousand Elsewhere Got Started

What began as a spark in an eighth-grade speech on branding has turned into something much more meaningful. Jordan has been working in design for over a decade, gaining experience in studios, freelancing, and pouring her heart into pro bono projects. But like many of us, everything changed when she became a mom.

Motherhood shifted her perspective and her priorities. The part-time office job no longer felt right, so Jordan took a leap of faith. She left her position to build A Thousand Elsewhere—an in-home design studio and gospel-centered shop where she could pursue both her creative passions and her family life.

Back in 2015, in a season of perfectionism and spiritual craving, Jordan committed to hand-lettering one Bible verse a day and posting it on Instagram—mistakes and all. What started as a creative discipline became a deep spiritual practice. That’s still the heart of her work today: creating gospel goods and offering creative services that serve, encourage, and point others to Christ.

Meet Jordan, the Owner

Jordan is a thirty-something wife and stay-at-home mama living in the breathtaking wilderness of northern BC. She’s a mental health advocate, an adventurer at heart, and someone who’s not afraid to share the highs and lows of faith and motherhood. Whether she’s designing full brand packages or crafting with her toddler, creativity is woven into the fabric of her life.

A verse that anchors her is 2 Corinthians 12:9:

“‘But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

My Personal Review

I couldn’t resist snagging a couple Wild Christian Club pieces from Jordan’s shop, and I love them. The stickers have held up beautifully on my Stanley cup (and yes, they survive frequent hand-washing and toddler grabs!). The design is so fun but also boldly faith-filled—it’s such a great conversation starter.

I also ironed the Wild Christian Club patch onto my patch sweatshirt, and it’s easily one of my favorite little touches. It feels like a quiet, joyful declaration of who I am and where I belong—and I love repping that message in my everyday life. The quality is amazing, the packaging was thoughtful, and it just made me smile opening it up. Highly recommend grabbing a few pieces from her shop—you’ll love them as much as I do.
